Concrete Alberta Concrete Studies Scholarship (member's only)

Concrete Alberta and our Board of Directors is pleased to announce the launch of the Concrete Studies Scholarship for member's. The scholarship will support and encourage post-secondary students who are enrolled in an Alberta based program related to concrete studies, and will recognize and reward students who demonstrate a strong commitment to the field of concrete and its applications, fostering the growth of future professionals in our industry.

Scholarship Eligibility Criteria:

  • Applicant's parent(s) are employed by Concrete Alberta Members. Applicants must be children of Concrete Alberta Members in good standing at the time of the application.
  • Applicant can demonstrate they are enrolled in an Alberta based post-secondary program. Applicants must be enrolled in a post-secondary program from an Alberta institution, such as a university, college, technical school, or vocational institution that includes coursework related to concrete studies. The program should have a concrete-related focus, such as civil engineering, construction management, architecture, materials science, or a related field.
  • Applicant must have a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale (or equivalent) in their academic program. Academic transcripts or records may be required as proof of academic performance.
  • Applicant must demonstrate a genuine passion for concrete studies. This can be illustrated through coursework, research projects, extracurricular involvement, or other relevant activities that showcase their dedication to the field.
  • While not mandatory, priority may be given to applicants who can demonstrate financial need. Applicants should provide information regarding their financial situation, including any significant barriers to pursuing their education in concrete studies.
  • Applicants should provide at least two letters of recommendation from individuals who can speak to their academic abilities, commitment to concrete studies, and potential in the field. These letters can come from professors, mentors, employers, or other relevant sources.
  • Applicants must submit an essay (approximately 500-800 words) addressing topics such as:
    • Their passion for concrete studies and the reasons behind their interest.
    • How they plan to contribute to the concrete industry in the future.
    • Any challenges they have overcome or unique experiences that have shaped their educational journey.
  • Applicants should include a current resume outlining their educational background, work experience, extracurricular activities, and any relevant achievements or awards.

Application Deadline:

The deadline for submitting applications for the Concrete Studies Scholarship is September 6, 2024 for selection by September 30. 

Scholarship Amount:

The scholarship amount is $3,500
*to be provided to the post-secondary institution the applicant is registered at.
