Mobile Mixer Facility Certification

Mobile Mixer Facilities

This certification program provides mobile mixer facilities with the means of obtaining a Certificate indicating that a plant, has the capability of producing quality concrete as per Canadian Standards Association A23.1 – Concrete Materials and Methods of Concrete Construction, and A23.2 – Test Methods and Standard Practices for Concrete.

Auditor Qualification and Producer Orientation Training

The auditing professional, the producer's representative (usually the facility's operations manager) and all operators of mobile mixer units to be certified, must first successfully complete the Auditor Qualification/Producer Orientation training before receiving a checklist acknowledging their desire and ability to certify a facility and its mobile mix units. It is also strongly recommended that the mobile mixer manufacturer’s representative complete the program to know how to assist their client to prepare for their audit as well as to advise them on how to maintain their certification throughout the 3-year term. The Auditor Qualification/Producer Orientation training is available online and takes approximately 90 minutes to complete including a short examination.  Upon completion of this segment and passing the exam with a minimum grade of 80%, the participant will receive a certificate of completion good for a 5-year term.

Audit Checklist

To be eligible for a Certificate, the producer must be a member of Concrete Alberta in good standing and the facility must be inspected by a qualified registered Professional Engineer (P. Eng.) or Professional Technologist (P. Tech.), who will confirm the facility's conformance to the Audit Checklist. In addition to carrying the signature and stamp of the inspecting engineer, the Audit Checklist must be signed by the facility's operations manager attesting that all equipment and materials will be maintained within requirements of the Audit Checklist. Upon completion of the Audit Checklist and correction of any deficiencies cited during the process, it should be forwarded to the Concrete Alberta office where it will be reviewed, and a Certificate of Conformance for Concrete Production Facilities may be issued.  Certification is for a 3 year term subject to renewal annually upon receipt of maintenance documentation.
